Maduro Arrested by USA, My Thoughts

At the beginning of 2026, for the past few days, almost all the news has been about the reported arrest of Venezuelan president Maduro by the United States. Nearly every political YouTuber I follow has covered it. After watching a large amount of commentary in a short time, I also wanted to write down my own view.

Commentators with different viewpoints reacted to the news in very different ways. But their overall worldview did not really change because of this event. In most cases, people simply stayed with the position they already had, whether pessimistic or optimistic.

So I do not think this incident will have an enormous impact on the overall global situation by itself. Broadly speaking, the world is still moving along the direction that followed Trump’s return to power last year. At the same time, Trump has already been in office for a year. If I look back on that entire year, I think the world has in fact changed a lot. Venezuela, as a smaller country, is more easily affected by shifts in international relations. Larger powers are usually more stable because of their size, but if Trump’s policies continue, those real-world effects will eventually arrive at every level there as well. In that sense, Maduro’s arrest feels like a preview of the kinds of events that may appear later.

That said, I also think this kind of forecasting has limited practical value. Whether the future turns out better or worse, we still have to act according to our own principles. There is no need to let the environment or a single event shake our convictions.

As for this specific case, some people think the United States may have acted outside proper legal procedure, and that this could set a bad example. But I think there are times when something technically unlawful becomes necessary, a kind of necessary evil.

Justice matters just as much as power. Power without justice is not enough, but justice without power is also not enough. The world is not simply black and white. It is always a matter of balance and degree.

2026年的年初，这几天所有的新闻都是关于委内瑞拉总统马杜罗被美国抓捕的信息。我所了解的相关时政 YouTuber 几乎都做了这个主题的节目。在高强度观看了大量内容之后，我也来说说我的想法。

不同观点的博主在看到这个事情之后，每个人的想法差别还是比较大的。但是，他们的想法并没有因为这件事而发生很大的改变。基本上，每个人还是保持着他们此前的想法。或消极，或乐观。

所以我认为这件事情对世界局势的影响可能并没有那么大。整体的还是顺着去年特朗普上台之后推行的理念在走。但是特朗普也已经执政了一年了。如果回看去年一整年，我认为世界还是发生了很大的变化。委内瑞拉作为一个小国，很容易受到这种国际关系变化而产生对现实的影响，而大国会因为体量而更稳定，但是随着后面特朗普的继续执政，这种对现实的影响也会不可避免地在各个层面到来。这次马杜罗被抓的事件，可以说是未来可能出现的各种事情的一个预示。

不过，我认为这种预测其实没有太大的作用。无论未来是好还是坏，我们其实都还是照着自己的理念去行动。不必因为环境或者事件而干扰了自己的意念。

具体到这次事件上，有人认为美国的程序上存在不合法性，可能起到了一个坏的带头作用。但是，我觉得有时候的不合法是必须的，是必要之恶。

正义和实力一样重要。光有实力，没有正义是不行的；但是光有正义，没有实力也是不行的。这个世界从来不是非黑即白，而只是一个度的取舍。
